Russian Angler Reels In a Bizarre Fish Resembling A Baby Dragon, In The Norwegian Sea

Many bizarre-looking creatures have been brought to the surface and photographed by a certain Russian fisherman. Among his recent discoveries from the bottom of the ocean, this Russian angler reeled in a really strange spectacle- an unusual fish resembling a ‘Baby Dragon.’ Another one of his catches looked strikingly like a hamburger, called the ‘cheeseburger with teeth.’

However, these are just some of many weird yet amazing deep-sea creatures captured by the angler named Roman Fedortsov. While some of his discoveries were made in the Atlantic, most were located in the Norwegian and Barents seas of northern Russia.

A young dragon-looking sea monster was discovered by a Russian fisherman in the Norwegian Sea.

Roman Fedortsov, 39, trawls for cod, haddock, and mackerel aboard commercial trawlers, but he specializes in reeling in bizarre fish from the ocean’s depths. So far, his efforts have yielded a slew of bizarre-looking marine life, including the ‘newly hatched baby dragon,’ nicknamed by internet users astounded by its dragon-like appearance.

This fish identifies as a chimaera, a cartilaginous fish that has earned the nickname “ghost shark” thanks to its eerie appearance. Fedortsov has also lately discovered other water animals which appear strikingly similar to a ‘hamburger’ and a ‘juicy jam doughnut.’

Fedortsov is famous for angling alien-like sea creatures.

But these three sea creatures are only a sampling of the strange and unique creatures that this Russian angler has come across in his travels throughout the world. Fedortsov discovered most of the species in the Norwegian and Barents seas in north Russia but has also uncovered a few strange-looking beasts at the depths of the Atlantic. But the ‘baby dragon’ has been one of his most recent discoveries.

More than 11,000 people have liked the post and left comments asking what the cheeseburger-like creature is? One person assumed it was a new type of chicken sandwich, only to realize a bit later that it was actually a fish. There’s also an alien-headed fish and another with what appears to be strange tentacles sprouting from its mouth. And an ancient-looking fish with teeth that appear to have been worn out from constant use, but these are continually being replaced by new teeth coming from the back of its mouth.

The pictures of his creepy and bizarre discoveries have gone viral over the internet and on social media.

Many of his shots have gone viral, even though the trawlerman confesses that he often has no idea what most of them are and shares the pictures only out of curiosity. Although he receives several remarks, he maintains that he finds all of the fish intriguing and does not think that they are hideous creatures.

“In their own way all of these creatures are beautiful,” he remarked.

He spends much of his time fishing in the Barents Sea, which connects to the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Russia. But he’s also been known to venture out into the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa.

Russian angler Ferdotsov claimed that the enormous variety of animals he discovered confirmed the theory that man had only scratched the surface of the ocean’s depths. In a post on his social media sites, the photographer, who studied marine science at Murmansk University and is an expert in fish processing and preparation, has published the photographs.

As the fisherman had previously stated, ‘All kinds of fish are lovely in their own way. When thinking of them, neither “frightening” nor “ugly” come to mind. He went on to say that “strange sea creatures” piqued people’s interest.

He added: “Readers have the impression that with each trawl we bring aboard unusual fish specimens. In fact, this is far from the case. It is a rarity. On the other hand, even a famous fish can be photographed so that it will seem to be a ‘monster’. Most of the raised fish do not survive due to the difference in pressure.”
